Caution Signs Aren’t the Same as Stop Signs

Acts 21:1-36
“And now compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there.” (Acts 20:22) Paul is resolute. The plan is to go to Jerusalem. This sounds strangely familiar. “As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem.” (Luke 9:51) They tried to stop Paul. They tried to warn him. The “urged him not to go.” (Acts 21:4; 21:11). Again, this sounds familiar, Peter did the same to Jesus. But in Acts it appears that the Holy Spirit is prompting the red flags. Jesus went to Jerusalem anyway. So did Paul. Sometimes the Holy Spirit warns us to proceed with caution even while the UNSTOPPABLE plan of God compels us to proceed anyway.
